~LINKS FOR WRITERS~

http://www.verlakay.com/boards/index.php
Verla's site for writers is magnificent.  If you can't find the information you're seeking there, you won't find it anywhere.  If you're serious about writing for children, you must bookmark this site...NOW.

I can vouch for this series of workshops.  I attended The Heart of the Novel workshop with Patti Gauch.  I learned more about writing there than anywhere else. The workshops are pricey, but, in my opinion, worth it.

This is a link to Harold Underdown's fantastic site.  This page leads directly into
Who's Moving Where? News and Editorial Changes at Children's Book Publishers.  You'll soon see how quickly editors change houses.

Do you write for magazines?  If so, you'll be glad to see this site: Great tips, insider info, informative articles, market updates.  Jan Fields founded this site and it rocks!

Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators is a professional organization for writers and illustrators of children's books.

Anastasia Suen's Blog Central: Check out her entire site! Although I've never taken an online workshop with Anastasia, many of my friends have and rave about them.

The Children's Book Council, Inc. is the nonprofit trade association of publishers and packagers of trade books and related materials for children and young adults.  I love to visit this site.

I love the articles in The Horn Book!  I pop over to this site to check out the latest exhibits featuring children's writers and illustrators.

The Institute of Children's Literature website is maintained by Jan Fields. She's the same incredibly talented founder of Kidmagwriters above. They have an open chat room to discuss writing and regularly scheduled events in the chat room. If you can't make one of their scheduled chats, be sure to check out heir extensive transcripts.  (
